BIG RIGS SERIES INVADES THE BIG BUTLER FAIR IN PA WITH 9 BIG RIGS

The Big Butler Fair located just West of Butler, Pennsylvania was the host fair for the second hook for the Big Rigs Pulling Series for 2024 on July 5, 2024. A packed over flowing grandstanded reacted with great fanfare appearance of 9 of the Big Rigs to tackle the pulling surface at the Big Butler Fairgrounds. This series is sponsored by Cen.Pe.Co. Lubricants and fuel additives of Cleveland, Ohio and Wolcott, Iowa and is the Oldest series for modified semis in the USA. The Big Rigs Series will have ten point events during the summer of 2024.  

 The Big Rigs were first on the program for that night and “Cat Scratch Fever” the four-time Big Rigs Series champion with new owner Mike Ostetrico from Aurora, Ohio, driving in his second-ever hook with the Big Rigs drew the number one position and put down a masterful pass with a distance of 299.78 feet. This CAT powered Mack was a recent acquisition of the MO Power Team from the disbursal of the Fred Sanders Pulling Team, held on to the lead to win his first ever Big Rigs Event.

Second place as won by the New York Puling Team of Chris Jefferies. The captain of the Jeffries Team –Chris Jefferies– of Three Big Rigs strong team, did the driving himself laying down a pass at 294.67 driving his truck GMC Cat Powered “General Stupidity”  

Rookie Ed Zeglen from the Pennsylvania and West Virginia Boarder claimed the third place with “Death Row”, a 1975 Freightliner sporting an all-new CAT C-15. Zeglen’s engine had a complete and spectacular melt-down at Meadville in August of last year and has come back stronger than ever. 

The Second entry from the Jeffries team laid claim to the fourth place with Chris Jeffries driving the 1988 Mack he calls “Bad Dog”.

While fifth place saw the return to the Big Rigs of former Season Champion –The   Father & Son Team of Jerry & Jerry Ray Hairhoger with the always strong running 1973 Kenworth sporting a CAT motor “Jerry-Atrics”

The Bud Kranauer Big Rig entry from Northeastern Ohio called “Bad Intentions” garnered the 6th Spot with the ever improving Kenworth. The third entry of the Empire Sates based pulling team of Jeffries grabbed the 7th spot with Matt Catlin driving the 1984 Pete called “Temperamental’.

The 1998 Pete “Moody Blue” Big owned by Jeff Lautanen from Ashtabula, Ohio with brother Bob doing the driving was the 8th place finisher.  While the Bob Lautanen Big Rig “The Grape Ape” a 2000 Pete the rounded up the class of 9 Big Rigs.  

The Next Big Rig Points Event will be held at Cattaraugus County Fairgrounds located in Little Valley, NY on July 27.  However, on July 20th at Raceway 7 there will be an open invitational for the Big Rigs offered.
