ZIGERNAUT’S  “DEATH ROW”  TAKES HUGE BIG RIGS WIN IN NEW YORK

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE   July 28, 2024 —By:  RJ Feicht

Ed Zegen from Morgantown, West Virginia made the trek to southern New York a winning one with a Big Rigs victory at the Cattaraugus County Fair in Little Valley on Saturday night.  Zeglen who is nick-named ‘Ziggernaut’ by his pulling friends has solidified his hold on the top spot with the 2024 Cen.Pe.Co Big Rigs Pulling Series.

Zig’s “Death Row” Freightliner is powered by a C-15 CAT engine that is developing well over 3000 horsepower when hooked to the twenty ton weight sled.  This is the second win of the year for the ultra-powerful machine.

Second place went to Jeff Lautenan’s “Moody Blue” Peterbilt.  The truck was very capably driven by Matt Gabriel from Jefferson, Ohio as Mr. Lautenan is recovering from major surgery that will keep him out of the driver’s seat for some time.  The vastly improved “Bad Intentions” Kenworth was third for Bud Kronauer from Madison, Ohio after taking its first ever win at Raceway Seven a week ago.

The event marked the return of the former “Jaws” Big Rig presently owned  by the Bailey Excavating team from Forestville, New York.  Now called the “Freightshaker”, the Cummins powered Freightliner finished fourth in its debut for the new owners. “Jaws” was formerly campaigned by Willie Scheanon and the WS Trucking Team from Ashtabula, Ohio.

Bobby Lautenan rounded out the top five with his outstanding “Grape Ape” Pete that has confounded the owners all season with apparent fuel delivery issues.

The Next Big Rig Points Event will be held at the Langford Northeast Nationals in Langford, New York on Saturday, August 2nd.
