After a very solid meeting with the Spillmans at their Harvest Barn in Sugarcreek, Ohio today Rick and RJ have been authorized to release the details of the 2017 Harvest Barn “Smoke Out” USA-EAST Sanctioned Tractor and Truck Pull. All of the major players from the Spillman Team were on hand for the meeting – Kirk, Scott, Todd and Laurie. ‘We were really impressed with how both the Harvest Barn facility and the entire Eagle Machine complex are growing” said RJ Feicht, VP and Director of Operations for USA-EAST Sled Pulling. “And we appreciate the hospitality of the Spillman family”.
The pull is scheduled for FRIDAY, JUNE 30, 2017 at 6:00pm.
The 2017 edition of the “Smoke Out” will be the 4th year of this Fourth of July week-end event that showcased a great pull and the largest fan base in 2016. A year ago the Big Rigs Semis brought fourteen modified semi trucks to Sugarcreek marking one of the largest gatherings of the semi class in the United States a year ago. Fred Sanders and his “Silver Bullet I” took the win. Kirk Spillman told FPP “Our fans love the Big Rigs and we want that class back in 2017”. The class is sponsored again in 2017 by Cen.Pe.Co. Lubricants and by MAC Trailer and Sanders Excavating. The Big Rigs will be coming to Sugarcreek!!
Our USA-EAST Limited Pro Stock and Super Farm combination class will be coming back to the “Smoke Out” in 2017. With the class runner-up a year ago Kolt Andreas hailing from Sugarcreek this class has tons of local interest. And for the first time in 2017 the event could draw some other Ohio based tractors as the new USA-EAST rules permit Light Pro Stock tractors to compete with the Limited Pros and Super Farms at two events ONLY in 2017. These tractors will be handicapped at the drawbar when running with the USA-EAST combo class.
The Classic Super Stock Tractors are sponsored by Hubner Seed again in 2017 and the regional representative of that company is Mike Yoder from Sugarcreek. Thus it would be obvious that one of the sweetest-running tractor classes on the USA-EAST circuit would return to the Harvest Barn ‘Smoke Out’ this year. Aaron Westhoefer who drove Todd Kendle’s “How Do U Like Me Now?” Farmall to the 2016 point championship is also a resident of the Tuscarawas County area.
As the only 4×4 truck class for the past three years at the “Smoke Out”, the Open 2.6 Diesel division will be coming back to the track that tore up so many of the hot running diesels a year ago. This class allows trucks from both the USA-EAST Series (sponsored by Warren Diesel Injection) and from the Ohio State circuit to compete on the same track at the same time. And for the first time the all-new NTPA open drive line division will be welcome to pull in this class.
And returning to the “Smoke Out” after missing a year will be the very popular Classic Hot Rod V-8 Tractors. This division with some of the best engineered pulling machines in the business will be led back to the Harvest Barn by the 2016 champion “Freaky Farmall” with Oscar Trbovich from Waynesburg, Ohio on the controls. This USA-EAST sanctioned class will be first on the program that begins at 6:00pm on Friday evening.
Information on tickets and sponsors and tons of other special interest news will be forthcoming both on this web page and on the web sites operated by the Harvest Barn. Mark the date on your pulling calendar – Friday, June 30 at 6:00pm.
